Hosted by the San Diego LGBT Community Center, AIDS Walk and Run San Diego is an event intended to remember those we’ve lost to HIV/AIDS and to raise critically needed funds to support services for those impacted by HIV today.

In 2022, the event went hybrid, incorporating socially-distant elements from previous pandemic years, as well as an in-person event.

The in-person community celebration kicked off at the San Diego LGBT Community Center in Hillcrest on Saturday, September 24th, 2022, with the walk and run taking place along the sidewalks of the event’s traditional 4-mile route.

There was also an option to participate as a Virtual Walker, allowing participants to walk their own 4-mile route.

Townspeople was proud to participate, and grateful to be a funding recipient of the event. Thank you to everyone who joined and donated to AIDS Walk & Run San Diego!

END-OF-YEAR GIVING: DONATE TO TOWNSPEOPLE’S EMERGENCY HOUSING PROGRAM

Through the end of 2022, we’re focused on raising funds for our emergency housing program. Every dollar counts, especially as we help unhoused San Diegans who also live with HIV/AIDS get through the coldest days of the year. Donations of $25 and more help us provide those served by our emergency housing program with a range of resources and services:

  • $25 helps provide hygiene kits
  • $50 supports meal kits
  • $100 covers the cost of a one-night hotel stay
  • $500 covers the cost of a five-night hotel stay

Please donate what you can and get loud about our end-of-year giving campaign! With your help, we can provide dignified temporary housing to more San Diegans experiencing homelessness.
